Meet the Owner
Whilemina Bestman
From a humble beginning in the restaurant business, Lady Wilhemina Bestman traveled across the Atlantic Ocean, from LIBERIA, WEST AFRICA, to The UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. With the homegrown experience she gained from her parents’ home in food culture, and also running a popular restaurant before leaving LIBERIA, she opted to focus on food internationally.
Due to extreme civil crises in LIBERIA, she was challenged to use every imaginable talent and discipline received from home, to regroup. She took a shot at the restaurant business called “MINA’S PLACE,” in the early 90s, inside Atlanta, Georgia. Because of discipline, hard work, courage and a strong sense of responsibility, MINA excelled in the restaurant arena over the years.
She originally catered to her Liberian community group and served them well. There was eventually a demand to expand and reach other West African and Caribbean folks. To that end, she broadened her clientele toward a more international base and relocated from Peachtree Industrial Blvd. to Memorial Drive.
By Divine Providence and stern commitment for a passion to cook, feed others and culturally connect internationally, MINA, West African Cuisine and International catering, proved to be a beacon of hope, joy and prosperity.
(A huge and warm appreciation to all who helped to make MINA’S Restaurant experience a great success over the years!!!)
